How To Update Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830 To Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 | CM 10.1

Though Samsung is not going to release any official Rom for Galaxy Ace, developers @ xda have made it possible for Galaxy Ace users to let their device taste the latest Jelly Bean 4.2.1 . Cyanogen Mod 10.1 is said to be the most stable Rom of all the Custom Roms. And we are providing you with a very easy-to-follow tutorial to update your phone to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 .

Well make sure you follow each and every step to successfully Update your phone. Lets start with the process now.

Before You Proceed–>>

  • Make sure that you have  Samsung Galaxy Ace with model number s5830. 
  • Enable USB Debugging mode. Go to Options > Applications > Development > USB Debugging.
  • Make sure you have installed USB drivers for your device. If you don’t have them installed then you can download them from here.
  • Backup all your personal information on your device.
    Use AppBak to backup all your apps.
    Use SMS Backup and Restore to backup messages.
    You can backup your contacts using gmail .
  • Charge your device battery with atleast 75% of power.

How To Update Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830 To Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 | CM 10.1

  1. Initially download CyanogenMod 10.1 Rom file and Google Apps Package on your PC.
  2. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
  3. Copy the downloaded file on the internal SD card of your phone.
  4. Now turn off your phone and boot your phone into recovery mode.
  5. Now to get in the Recovery Mode, press and hold Volume Down +Home+ Power buttons together until recovery mode screens turns up.
  6. Now select ‘ Wipe data/Factory reset and confirm on the next screen by pressing power button.
  7. Now select ‘ Wipe cache ‘ and confirm by pressing power button.
  8. Now select ‘ Advanced –> Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm by pressing power button .
  9. Then select ‘ Flash ZIP From SD Card ‘ and then select Choose ZIP From SD Card and browse to the CyanogenMod 10.1 Rom zip file that you copied to your device’s SD card in step 3. Select the file and confirm by pressing power button. The installation will start.
  10. Once the installation is finished, install the google apps package by following step 9.
  11. When you finish installing google apps package, select Go back and select Reboot system now.
  12. Now your device will boot with the whole new Look and feel of Jelly Bean 4.2.1.

Congratulations !! You have managed to safely update your  Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830 with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean based CM 10 custom ROM firmware !

      Ok listen what exactly you did please let us know. This Rom was tested on the same version of Galaxy Y and it worked fine. Try repeating the same procedure again. If it doesnt work, port back to your original ROM.

    thank you for the above article – it is great. I am struggling to partition the sd card to use as internal memory (as the Galaxy Ace has poor internal memory).

    Is there an easy to follow tutorial for doing this. I am running Jelly Bean 4.2.1 / CM 10.1 (as per above) and have CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6

    Thanks for d update. Its working great on my galaxy ace. But d only problem is dat my keyboard is not working at all. Bcos of which i m not able to write anything. Pls fix d problem. Immanual. Thanks.

    I have downloaded those two files.. and when I am Pressing and Holding – Down Vol+Menu+Power Button It Shows me [Downloading] in yellow(golden) color.. no another menu is showing .. Please help me how I do ?

      You need to root and install Clockworkmod recovery on your phone initially. You must have not finished with this step and that is why your device is booted in Download mode install of Recovery mode.

        The problem is with your CWM reovery. try reinstalling it. Because that’s what is giving you problem.
