How To Update HTC One V To Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 | AOKP Custom Rom

AOKP is providing quite good development these days for a lot of devices. HTC One V has got the AOKP Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 port recently. As you know AOKP Rom is a feature heavy Rom, you will have a lot of more and customizing features along with this Rom. You can install this Rom using the tutorial given below.


Before You Proceed–>>

  • This tutorial is strictly intended for HTC One V. Using this tutorial on any other device or any other variant of HTC One V may brick your device.
  • Before you proceed make sure that your device is rooted and you have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your phone.
  • Make sure you have setup ADB and Fastboot on your computer.
  • Ensure that you have USB drivers for your device installed on your PC. If you don’t then click here.
  • Enable USB Debugging mode. Go to Options > Applications > Development > USB Debugging.
  • Backup all your personal information on your device.
    Use AppBak to backup all your apps.
    Use SMS Backup and Restore to backup messages.
    You can backup your contacts using gmail .
  • Charge your device battery with atleast 75% of power.

How To Update HTC One V To Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 | AOKP Custom Rom

  1. Download the AOKP Custom Rom Android 4.2.1 and extract it to a convenient folder on your computer.
  2. Now download Google Apps and save it to a convenient folder as well.
  3. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
  4. Now find Android 4.2.1 Rom zip file in the folder that you have extracted in step 1 and copy it to the SD card on your phone. Also copy the Google Apps Package that you have downloaded in step 2.
  5. Now find boot.img file in the folder that you have extracted in step 1 and copy it to the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory on your computer.
  6. Now turn off your phone and boot into bootloader mode. To boot into bootloader mode, press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons while turning ON the phone.
  7. Now while your phone is in the fastboot mode, connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.
  8. Now on your computer, navigate to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory and open command Command Prompt there. Press and hold right-shift key and right click in empty space. Then select Open Command Prompt here.
  9. Now type the following commands in the command prompt and press enter after you enter each command:
    • fastboot flash boot boot.img
    • fastboot reboot

    Now just follow the instructions on the screen.

  10. Now select Bootloader and then go to recovery mode.
  11. In ClockworkMod Recovery Mode select ‘ Wipe data/Factory reset and confirm on the next screen by pressing power button.
  12. Then select ‘ Flash ZIP From SD Card ‘ and then select Choose ZIP From SD Card and browse to the AOKP JellyBean 4.1.2 Rom zip file that you copied to your device’s SD card in step 4.
  13.  Select the file and confirm by pressing power button. The installation will start.
  14. Once the installation is finished, install the google apps by following step 12.
  15. When you finish installing google apps, select Go back and select Reboot system now.
  16. Now your device will boot with the whole new Look and feel of Jelly Bean 4.1.2

That’s it!! You have successfully updated your HTC One V to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 !!

      This tutorial ran well for me, the Rom is smooth with minor bugs. All you have to do is port back your device to a original Official Android version destined for your phone and then install this Rom again. Works like a charm.

      android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools is not on your phone. It should be in your C: drive on your desktop where you have installed Android SDK
