The XXDLI8 Firmware package downloads two files. Which one am I supposed to use in Odin?

    • http://www.facebook.com/marcus.tate1 Marcus Tate

OK. I got it figured. Kies was in the way.

  • http://www.facebook.com/marcus.tate1 Marcus Tate

system_rooted.tar.md5 failed when I tried to install it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/fernando.barbosa.31 Fernando Barbosa

same problem! What should I do?

      • Roque

Please see that you have first installed the pre-rooted ROM on your Galaxy Ace 2. Only the you can install the CWM Recovery image.

    • Radoslav Schudich

U should select the “…tar” file and not directly the “…md5″ one. try it!

  • thanoszaf

Probably a stupid question, but how can I check that the phone is rooted after following the instructions above?
Also, do I need to boot the device in download mode to install clockworkmod?

    • Roque

A very simple thing you can do to check if your phone is rooted or not is to download Root Checker from Google Play store and install it on your phone.
And yes, you need to boot into download mode to install CWM Recovery.

      • thanoszaf

Thank you very much! It works like a charm!

        • Acquin Dmello

          Yeah ! Welcome :)

  • Radoslav Schudich

    1. The “Download Mode” you enter with Volume Down+ Power and not vol.up.

    2. In the “ClockworkMod Recovery package” folder you have two files. You copy them both at once, the first you add with PDA button, the second one with CSC button and than click START.

    • Roque

Well thanks for helping and letting us know.

    1) Download CWM Recovery Package listed above.
    2) Open Odin and click on where it says PDA.

    3) Now find and select the ” CWM Recovery Package ” zip file you download ( NOTE: Don’t Extract)

    4) Once it selected, put your phone in download mode ( Vol Down+Home+Power).

    5) Connect your phone to the computer with USB Cable. Your phone should be detected in ODIN.
